Não foi seguramente capricho de arquiteto paisagista, nem desígnio de engenheiro de estradas, mas a rotunda nua, mal tratada e suja de plásticos e papel, brilha agora mais que se tivesse estátua de herói ou luzes de natal.

O que é preciso é dar por isso (quase como dizia o Pessoa sobre o binómio de Newton…); praticar a sensata arte de olhar para o chão - refúgio dos tímidos, dos culpados e dos que simplesmente gostam de ver; sorver o óbvio para saborear o fim de boca inesperado que premeia a insistência...mesmo que por mera confirmação probabilística.

É por isso que eu procuro, e fico infantilmente feliz sempre que encontro, quase sem querer, como aconteceu ontem com as orquídeas na rotunda do posto de gasolina!

It was certainly not  a whim of a landscaping architect, nor the will of the  road engineer, but the naked roundabout, neglected and soiled by paper and plastic, now shines more than it would were it given an hero’s statue or Christmas lights.

One has to notice it though… (almost like what Pessoa said about  Newton’s binomial…); indulge in the wise art of looking at the floor – an haven for the shy, the guilty and  those that simply like to see - to gulp down the obvious in order to savour that unexpected aftertaste that rewards persistency... even if by mere probabilistic confirmation.

That is why I search and become childishly happy whenever I find, almost by chance, as it was the case yesterday with the orchids in the roundabout of the gas station!
